Low-frequency receivers and locators NPR
The NPR series low-frequency receiver (locator) is a portable self-contained device. It is designed to detect and register signals from low-frequency transmitters installed on inline PIGs, as well as for recording weak changes in magnetic fields, created by inline PIGs without transmitters.
A low-frequency (22Hz) electromagnetic signal from the transmitter passes through a layer of soil or water, as well as through metal and reinforced concrete walls of pipelines, launch and reception chambers or tank walls.
By sound and light signals from the NPR receiver, the operator determines the position of the transmitter inside the pipeline.
NPR locators have high sensitivity and narrow bandwidth , which allows you to confidently detect the signal from the transmitters even under adverse conditions, such as industrial noise with a frequency of 50 Hz, running electric motors, deep burial of the pipeline.
Standard modifications
NPR-00
Has an infrared port for remote control of PNT transmitters, a recorder of changes in magnetic fields, as well as an external speaker. Can automatically log up to 5 pig passes with transmitter or magnet.
MoreNPR-01
Equipped with a connector for connecting an external antenna (in a sealed marine version with cable
up to 200 m)
and for communication with a computer via a USB port for transferring recorded signals. It can also be used for temporary marking during VTD.
NPR-03
It has a robust body that can withstand external pressure up to 30 MPa. Designed for operations on subsea pipelines laid at depths of up to 3 km using controlled underwater vehicles (ROV). Can also be used by a diver.
MoreReceivers (locators) of NPD of various modifications have the same control interface, are maximally unified in electronic components and operation algorithm. The receivers are controlled using two buttons on the front panel (or on the side surface for NPR-03 underwater recorders).
To visualize the received signals, the control panel has LEDs that work reliably at any temperature and any illumination. Receivers that are not intended for underwater use also have a built-in speaker that audibly notifies the operator of the received signal.
There is a folding handle for carrying the NPR-00 and for convenient work with it. If NPR-01 is ordered with a remote antenna and a cable longer than 30 m, then we will offer a special bollard for convenient and fast cable laying / winding. The ergonomics of the NPR-03 underwater recorder are thought out for comfortable operation of a diver, as well as for the ability to control this receiver using an underwater vehicle's manipulator (ROV).
At the request of the customer, we are ready to make changes to the design of our serial NPR receivers to enable them to be used in any specific conditions.

- other regulations governing the use of electrical equipment in hazardous areas.
The certificate of conformity GOST R for low-frequency receivers-recorders of the NPR series was received in 2008.
In 2012, low-frequency receivers of the NPR series were included in Register technical devices recommended for use at the enterprises of the fuel and energy complex of the Russian Federation.
Certificate of Conformity ТР ТС 012/2011 "On the safety of equipment for work in explosive atmospheres" for receivers of the NPR was received in 2015. This certificate of conformity to the technical requirements of the Customs Union certifies the compliance of receivers with the requirements of technical regulations. and ensures the circulation of certified products on the territory of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan without additional requirements and without additional assessment procedures.
NPR receivers are serially manufactured according to TU 4276-001-96335610-2008.
The locators are marked with explosion protection 1ExibIIBT3X
Degree of protection of the case - IP67 in accordance with GOST 14254-96 (IEC 529-89, IP68 for NPR-03 at pressures up to 300 atm)
The devices are warranted 12 months .
Convenience and ease of use
Receivers (locators) of the NPR series register signals from various transmitters operating at a frequency of 22Hz, such as PNT, PS1, PS2, PN, PDS, CD42, ITX806, etc. The signal from the transmitters PNT is determined by the NPR locator over the air at a distance of up to 25 meters. It is also possible to register the passage of in-line pigs without a transmitter (with a metal body or equipped with a magnet).
The received signal goes through complex analog and digital processing. In the presence of vibrations with a frequency of 22 Hz, a sound signal is generated by a built-in sound emitter. To control the level of the received signal, the front panel of the locator has a bar of LED indicators , which allows you to work comfortably with the device in the temperature range from -40C to + 60C and in any lighting, including the bright sun. The brightness of the LED indicators is automatically adjusted.
The circuitry and design solutions used in the device make it possible to operate in a wide variety of climatic conditions and in hazardous areas of classes 1, 2 where the formation of explosive mixtures of category IIB temperature group T3 .
Locator management is simple and intuitive. Switching from one mode to another is described in the instructions (on request in English), included in the package. A video tutorial on how to work with CPR receivers can be viewed on our channel at YouTube.
An easy-to-carry bag (or a sturdy case upon request) is included.
Additional functions
Thanks to the high-precision quartz clocks built into the NPR-01 and NPR-03 receivers, which can be synchronized via a computer with the pig clock, these receivers can also be used in marker points when carrying out in-line inspections of pipelines with GPS reference to the terrain.
NPR receivers also have a module for recording changes in weak magnetic fields . This module allows you to register the passage of the pig, even if it is not equipped with a low-frequency transmitter. It is enough that the pig is made of ferromagnetic materials (ordinary structural steel) or was equipped with a small permanent magnet. In this case, the passage of the pig will make a change in the Earth's magnetic field, and this will be recorded by a stationary receiver located near the pipeline.
In addition, an electronic module with an infrared transmitter is built into the NPR-00 locator housing. This module is used for remote control of PNT series low-frequency transmitters. Thanks to the remote control function, there is no need to remove the transmitter from the pig, to turn it off or change the operating mode.
IR control of PNT transmitter is shown in video instructions :
Operating time and batteries
Widespread AA elements (manufactured by DURACELL, Energizer, etc.) are used as a power source. Lithium batteries with a voltage of 1.5V ( Energizer, Ultimate Lithium , AA, 1.5V) guarantee long-term, reliable operation of the locator at temperatures up to minus 40 ° C.
Low current consumption and the presence of a low battery indicator allows maximum use of the batteries until they are completely discharged. The battery life of the locator is at least 240 hours. The batteries are easy to replace.
With care, the NPR locators work reliably for many years, requiring only periodic battery replacement.
